Accounting career awareness program (acap)

Did you know that ethnic minorities make up only 5% of Certified Public Accountants in the United States?

ACAP began in 1980 when NABA recognized the need for a program that would direct African-Americans and other minorities towards the accounting and finance profession. Recognizing that preparation for a professional career begins in junior and senior high school, NABA designed a pilot program that would be informative, yet go beyond words. Accordingly, the one-week residency concept was developed.

What is ACAP Wichita

ACAP-Wichita is a summer residency program giving students the opportunity to reside in college dorms at Wichita State University for five days and four nights and attend classes on accounting and college preparation. Classroom topics are enhanced through team building activities, professional office tours, field trips, as well as other activities.

Memeber of The year Program

Our NABA Members do so much to make our chapter a successful one. How could we ever repay them???

The Member of the Year program is designed to honor one special member for all of their hard work. Throughout the year each member earns points for doing things such as leading committees, volunteering on committees, recruiting new members, as well as varias other tasks. At the end of the fiscal year each member's points are added up and the member with the highest points will recieve a special prize as a token of our appreciation to them.

Professional Development

General Assembly MeetingsNABA strives to promote and develop personal and professional skills of our members through our general monthly meetings. By offering a wide variety of topics, we are able to keep our members business savvy and ready for any challenge. In addition to our general monthly meetings, many members attend the National Convention where they meet with other professionals from around the United States, to build their personal and professional networks.

Networking EventsNABA Inc. - Wichita hosts a variety of networking events throughout the year. This year we will host several events that will serve as fundraising opportunities for our annual scholarships. These activities include:  Wine Tasting, Movie Night, Dress for Success, Costume Party, and a Meet and Greet Reception. All attendees will have the opportunity to meet the Chapter Leadership team and learn more about the planned events, activities and initiatives for the upcoming year.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (vita)

The VITA Program offers free tax help to low- income (generally, $50,000 and below) people families. Certified volunteers sponsored by NABA, the United Way, and the Best Coalition receive training to help prepare basic tax returns in the Wichita community. The NABA VITA site is located at the Atwater Center and offers electronic filling as well as printed returns. Find out how you can volunteer or have your taxes prepared.
